The Chief of Joma, a Village near Ablekuma in Accra has been murdered.
Nii Ayitey Noryatse's body was found in his room Monday morning.
Preliminary investigation by the Ghana Police Service says the chief might have been assassinated.
They found gunshot wounds on his body.
The Public Relation Officer of the Ghana Police Service DSP Cephas Arthur in an interview with XYZ News said residents should remain calm.
DSP Cephas Arthur stated that “we are still investigating and haven’t come to any concrete conclusion yet”.
He added that “we are advising residents of the Joma community to remain calm and have confidence in the Police to unravel the mystery behind the death”.
In a related story, a Bimoba woman has been shot in Nakpanduri in the Northern region.
The woman suspected to be in her late 40’s was shot whilst taking her bath.
People in the Bimoba Community are linking the incident to the protracted conflict between the Konkomba’s and the Bimoba’s.
The two ethnic groups have been engaged in violent clashes for years over a parcel of land.
Assemblyman for the area Daniel Duut speaking to XYZ News said there could be reprisal attacks if the situation is not contained immediately.
