As part of the Eid al-Adha celebrations, the Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture, who is also the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Dumelo, in collaboration with the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly, has donated cattle to various mosques across the constituency.
The donation was carried out with support from the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Dr Micheal Mensah, as part of efforts to assist Muslim communities in preparing for the Eid festivities.
"Donation of cattle to various mosques in Ayawaso West together with our new MCE Dr Mensah," the MP wrote as caption to his post, which was accompanied by a video, on X.
Eid al-Adha, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” is one of the most important Islamic holidays celebrated by Muslims worldwide.
It commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son, Ismail (Ishmael), as an act of obedience to God.
The festival takes place during the last month of the Islamic lunar calendar, Dhul Hijjah, coinciding with the completion of the annual pilgrimage to Mecca, known as the Hajj.
It is a time of reflection, devotion, and generosity, reminding Muslims of faith, obedience, and the importance of helping others.
