Japanese Ambassador-Designate pledges to work for balanced trade

Mrs. Kazuko Asai, Japanese Ambassador-Designate to Ghana on Friday called on Mr Hackman Owusu-Agyeman, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and pledged to strengthen relations between the two countries during her tenure.

"Being a business lawyer by profession I will do everything possible to ensure that the two countries were balanced in terms of trade and will also get some Japanese industries to assist in the production of chocolate", she said.

Mrs Asai said with Japanese advancement in Information Technology (IT), her country would assist Ghana by training some Ghanaians in that field as well as help to enhance the nation's telecommunication system. Mr Owusu-Agyeman in welcoming her formally to Ghana thanked Japan for its immense contributions towards the development of the country.

He gave the assurance that although Ghana was not in a position to support Japan financially, "we will do all we can as a nation to support Japan in international forums in good faith".
