Jake Never Said Two People Died At Atiwa

Since the Atiwa by-election ended an erroneous impression is being bandied round by leading members of the NDC that NPP National Chairman Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey said two people died at Abomosu in the Atiwa constituency after Anita de Souza's vehicle alledgedly ploughed into a group of NPP activists.

The NDC Propaganda Sectary especially has been jumping from Radio station to the other to accuse Jake Obetsebi Lamptey of saying two people were dead in Atiwa when no one died.

Other NDC members have called on the IGP, Mr. Paul Tawia Quaye to arrest Jake Obetsebi Lamptey for making unsubstantiated reports on various radio stations that three people died and challenged Jake to produce the three dead bodies.

Indeed Jake granted an interview to Joy FM shortly after the polls closed but at no point did he state that two people were dead. As National Chairman of the NPP Jake is aware of the repercussions of making unsubstantiated allegations and comments. He was also guided by the fact that he did not personally see any dead bodies though there were many calls to him to the effect that two of the victims that were being conveyed to hospital were dead.

Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey who is currently attending an International Conference of the NPP in Germany welcomes any investigation into the violence that characterised the Atiwa by-election but is surprised it has taken the Police two weeks to start an investigation.

Signed

Mahama Haruna.

Aide to Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey.
