JUSAG calls off strike

The Judicial Service Workers Association (JUSAG) has called off a two-day strike declared Tuesday Joy News can confirm.

The decision to call off the strike was reached after a meeting with the Labour Ministry, Thursday.

The strike was in protest over unpaid allowances which have been in arrears for several months.

As a result of the strike, court activities were gravely disrupted, Wednesday as judges, lawyers and clients were left stranded at the various courts across the country.

The Labour Minister Haruna Iddrisu in an interview with Joy News had expressed surprise over the strike but hinted the Finance Ministry was in the process of releasing funds to pay the allowances.

He would rather the striking workers had exercised some patience.

It appears the Finance Ministry has paid the allowances owed the judicial workers.

Joy News' Parliamentary Correspondent Elton John Brobbey in an interview with the Association members reported the workers had called off the strike, Thursday.

The workers have confirmed receiving their allowances, a reason why the strike was called off.
