“The Acheampong family of Akyem Tafo in the Eastern Region write with a heart filled with affliction and torture to express our dissatisfaction about the investigations and subsequent arrest and prosecution of the killers of our son, brother, uncle, niece, breadwinner and our all, who until his murder was a Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency and a former Deputy Minister for Women and Children Affairs under the erstwhile Kuffour administration, Hon Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu.

Credible media reports and preliminary accounts by the prime suspect Daniel Asiedu immediately after his arrest suggest that, he was hired to kill J. B. Danquah-Adu, a man who held the center of our family and thousands of his constituents among others.

A Daily Guide News Paper publication reported that, the suspect Daniel Asiedu told the police he was contracted to kill your cousin J. B. Danquah-Adu for a prize of GHS 2,000, part of which he used to buy shoes.

Interestingly enough, his accounts at the police station changed shortly after he was sent to the BNI cell and subsequently to the court. He claim to have gone on a robbery expedition. We are not happy with the Ghana Police Service. To us as a nation, we have confidence in them but their action has put their integrity on the line.

Mr. President, It is worthwhile to note that a number of security analyst ruled out robbery as the motive for the murder and that everything points to a premeditated attack.

Meanwhile the suspect reportedly mentioned names of his accomplice and others who may have hired him to commit the crime during the preliminary stage of the investigations but later changed his statement in court.

We as also citizens of this country are disturbed that, a Member of Parliament, an astute international business mogul and industrialists who has contributed tremendously to the development of this country cannot get justice after a year of his murder on February 9, 2016 in a cold blood in his own house.

Mr. President, If the society we live in cannot protect it citizens or seek justice for such an honorable and astute business man who as a matter of fact is your cousin and his family fought with their blood to attain independence for our dear nation then what is the faith of the ordinary hawker on the street and millions of homeless Ghanaian citizens if they fall into such circumstances?

Just as the Ghanaian people want to know, tens of questions are lingering the minds of late J. B. Danquah-Adu’s family which includes you (Mr. President) requires immediate steps to unraveled the mystery behind his murder and arrest and prosecution of all those who have a hand in this.

We are by this petition calling on you to order a re-commissioning of investigations into the killing of JB Danquah-Adu and arrest all culprits involved in his murder.

Even though J. B cannot come back to life, we want to witness proper justice for him for as long as God is God otherwise J.B Danquah Adu’s blood shall forever remain a bad curse on the head of this nation to which every individual shall feel the pain that he felt at the hands of the Almighty God unless God is dead.

Mr. President, to us as family and citizens of our dear nation, Justice Delay they say is justice denied.

We sincerely anticipate a swift response and action about this petition in all humility.

May Hon. J. B. Danquah-Adu soul Rest in Peace
