JAK in India: Kufuor Meets African Ambassadors

President John Agyekum Kufuor has called on African Ambassadors to be abreast with the new vision and efforts of African leaders to move the development of the Continent forward.

He said, "As Ambassadors you have to know the vision and efforts being made by your leaders to share a common mission for development. Be together and work for Africa". President Kufuor was addressing African Heads of Mission accredited to India as part of his four-day state visit to India in New Delhi. He said Africa has moved from the period of the OAU into a new phase under the African Union for economic development to assert its identity in the advancing world and would not continue to be marginalised on the globe.

President Kufuor said under NEPAD, which is an agency of the Union; Africa is drawing a line between exploitation, humiliation and marginalisation into a new era to lift itself through its own efforts and would like other sections of the globe to join it in partnership on globalisation.

The Chairman of the African Heads of Mission in India and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Dr Ahmed El Mansour Diop said African countries should co-operate with each other and conduct themselves in a decent manner to bridge the gap between Africa and India. He said much would depend on the leaders in Africa to guide and advise Ambassadors to meet the challenges ahead to develop the Continent.
