It's finally over; now go and vote

Today is the day for Ghanaian-Americans to fulfill the promise of the 2008 election. The surge in voter registration, the tremendous interest in the presidential campaign and the efforts by John McCain and Barack Obama to turn out their supporters all point to high turnout. But now it is the civic responsibility of each registered voter to follow through today and make time to vote.

Polls will be open generally from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. and people will be able to find the location of their polling place at www.canivote.org .

The website also provides information for each registered citizen to know where they are registered to vote.

Some states will close the polls starting from 6 p.m. but in some states including; Iowa, Maine, New York and Rhode Island the polls will extend until 9 pm. local time.

Voters should bring a proper identification. For more information www.canivote.org provides all the requirements according to each state.
