A number of Chiefs at Nyinahin and its environs in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region insist that Exton Cubic Group Limited must be the ones allowed to mine bauxite in the area.

They have therefore appealed to government to as a matter of urgency settle the impasse between them and the company to allow [Exton Cubic Group] begin work since it is an avenue that could open up job opportunities for the youth in the area.

Chief of Nkawie, Mpasasohene and other Chiefs of Nyinahini observed that the undue delay is indirectly affecting residents of the area who hitherto are hopeful when operations begin could provide them with jobs.

The Nkawiepanyin hene who spoke for the Chiefs at a press conference held at the Nkawie Chief palace on Tuesday 29th of August 2017 asked for a depoliticization of the project and decried the unnecessary political interference by some politicians, warning they were going to resist such moves.

He underscored the need for the Bauxite project in Nyinahini to be developed by Exton Cubic Group Limited, a local Ghanaian mining Company indicating that all the several companies who have been to the area to develop the Nyinahini Bauxite Deposit since it was discovered in 1992 have failed to do so and said that they were happy that Exton Cubic Group have been able to reach this far.

“We want this Bauxite project by Exton Cubic Group Limited in Nyinahini to see the light of day. Per the plan and detailed discussion we had with Exton Cubic Group, the project will develop the town because of the Railway project, Alumina Refinery and other components of the project. We have met them on several occasions and have informed the Asantehene, Otomfour Osei Tutu II about their engagements”, he revealed

They expressed hope that the company will build the needed infrastructure for the project debunking claims that Exton Cubic has commenced actual mining of bauxite at Nyinahini, explaining that they are aware of the prospecting activities at the area.

To this end, they appealed to the government to facilitate and support Exton Cubic’s vision of developing the Nyinahini Bauxite deposit into an Integrated Aluminum Industry because it was going to transform the Nyinahini catchment area and create employment for the youth and people of the area.
