An ultra modern Islamic Training Centre has been built in the Tamale Metropolitan Area to promote circular education in the three regions of the north.

This includes a 12 unit classroom block, a clinic, a Mosque and a bore-hole facility.

The project was financed by a Saudi based businesswoman and spearheaded by the Alsayida Luululwa Alzaward in Riyadh.

Arabic Instructors are to take advantage of the Centre and improve their teaching skills and experience.

A renowned Islamic Cleric, Sheikh Mohammed Ibrahim said the multi-purpose project was worth $170,000.

According to him, the project formed part of the Ghana government and some Philanthropists in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's collaborative efforts to promote circular education and providing primary health care in deprived communities in Ghana.

"Some individuals, institutions and charitable organizations in Saudi Kingdom have funded the provision of classroom blocks, Mosques, health facilities, clean drinking water, humanitarian and relief services to thousands of communities across Ghana."

He said the Centre would soon be elevated to the status of an Islamic College of Education.

He advised the Centre's management saying, "The Islamic institutions should collaborate with the Ghana Education Service to use the facilities adequately. This will ensure more Islamic instructors are produced to enhance teaching and learning in Islamic schools. This will also bridge the gap between circular education and Arabic studies at the basic level".

Doktur Mohammed commended the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) for its Humanitarian services to deprived Muslim dominated communities in Ghana.

The Vice Chairman of the Regional Council for Islamic Education, Sheikh Awal Napari thanked the Alsayida Luululwa Alzaward for the support.

He gave the assurance that the project would be maintained to serve the purpose of its establishment.

“It is now a priority for us to see all Arabic instructors properly trained and you cannot see them like others if they are not properly trained to become perfect teachers. You cannot see them like others if they are not given proper education about Islam, the same religion we practice as Muslims.”
