Mr Stephen Ashitey Adjei, Executive Member of the Tema East Constituency of National Democratic Congress (NDC) has advised Mr Isaac Ashai Odamtten, former Chief Executive for the Tema Metropolis to contest for the NDC Parliamentary ticket in the Central region.
According to him, Mr Isaac Ashai Odamtten had a better chance of becoming MP on the Parliamentary ticket of the NDC in Ekumfi Constituency than in Tema.
“Mr Odamtten partly hails from Otuam, through his mother of course; but that is not the reason why I am advising that he runs for MP there, everybody knows he is very popular in Otuam. Indeed, even while he was MCE in Tema, the chiefs and people of Otuam kept in touch and frequented his office at Tema Community One.
“I have even heard credible rumours that while he was Mayor in Tema, the people of Otuam kept lobbying him to come and run as MP there,” Moshake said.
Mr Ashitey Adjei popularly known as Moshake in a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra advised that going to Ekumfi would be a better idea than trying to run in Tema where the campaign field was already too cluttered.
Moshake’s advice is coming amidst widespread rumours that Mr Ashai Odamtten, would contest for the 2020 Parliamentary ticket of the NDC in Tema East.
“The immediate past MCE, is highly praised for massive infrastructural development that he brought to Tema. Indeed, he is regarded as one of the best MCE’s that the NDC has ever produced for Tema with many expecting that he will run for the 2020 Parliamentary ticket in either Tema East or Tema West.
“It is because of this same resourcefulness of Mr Odamtten that I want him to run in Otuam. You see, in Tema East, the NDC already has a number of very fine materials who want to run for MP on the party’s ticket. Among the lot, I know Kempes Ofosuware will easily win because of his resourcefulness.
“If Mr Ashai Odamtten runs in Otuam, where he is very likely to win and come to Parliament, and leaves Kempes to run in Tema and Kempes wins, then it is to the advantage of the NDC. But if both of them run in Tema, the NDC will naturally be forced to choose between the two of them,” Moshake explained.
Already, Lord Hammah, a former Parliamentary aspirant, Noah Afedo, a businessman and Baba Abu Abdulai, a former Constituency Secretary of the NDC, have made their intentions of contesting for the 2020 Parliamentary ticket of Tema East known.
“Of all of them, however, I think Kempes would be a more winnable candidate because of his clout as a former MCE of Tema. He is also very resourceful,” Moshake said.
He said the NDC was now in opposition and would need resourceful people with the financial muscle to winsomely run against the NPP’s incumbent MP, Titus Glover.
