Isaac Adongo donates towards coronavirus fight

Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central Constituency, Hon. Isaac Adongo has been commended for making a donation to his constituents towards the fight against the pandemic Coronavirus in the Upper East Region.

The MP donated Veronica buckets, boxes of liquid soaps, mosquito nets, gallons of alcohol-based sanitiser among others to several communities in his constituency.

Party executives who helped with the donation sensitized the residents to observe the precautionary measures announced by the World Health Organization (WHO) especially washing of hands with soap under running water as well as social distancing.

According to XYZ correspondent, Samuel Mbura, “the style and approach in the fight against Covid19 adopted by MP for Bolgatanga Central Constituency, Hon. Isaac Adongo is commendable.”

“He launched a media campaign against Covid19 after presenting the biggest donation to the Health Directorate. So far, this is the biggest donation in the region among incumbent MPs,” Mbura posted on his Facebook wall.

Ghana’s COVID-19 cases

Ghana’s Coronavirus count has increased from 195 to 204.

All nine fresh cases confirmed Thursday, April 2, 2020, were recorded in Accra.

According to the Ghana Health Service (GHS), three of the newly confirmed COVID-19 cases were imported from Germany, France and Hungary recently.

The remaining 6 had no travel history, health officials said.

Currently, the national capital, Accra, which is on lockdown for fourteen days, has the highest number of cases–183. Tamale has the second-highest–10– followed by Ashanti region which has recorded 9 cases.

Eastern region has recorded 1 case with 200 persons to be traced for testing.

The government has assured that it’s preparedness, including a lockdown in Greater Accra, Kasoa and Kumasi in the Ashanti region, will help curb the spread of the deadly virus.

Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah told the BBC Thursday the government’s aim was to ” be ahead of the virus” and not to be chasing it, adding that the government was gearing towards a mass testing exercise as one of the ways to contain the virus.
