Ireland volunteers enstooled chiefs in Ashanti

Nkwanta-Kese (Ash), July 11, GNA- Two volunteers from Northern Ireland were on Thursday enstooled chiefs by the chiefs and people of Nkwanta-Kese in Ashanti for their contribution to development in the community.

Mr Alan Emerson was enstooled Boafourhene under the stool name Nana Owusu Nkwanta while Miss Lynn Furguson, Boafourhemaa under the stool name Nana Yaa Akyaa.

The two are leading a team of 13 volunteers from Northern Ireland on a two-week visit to Nkwanta-Kese in the Afigya-Sekyere District where they are assisting the people to build affordable houses. The volunteers have since their arrival a week ago assisted the community to build three-unit houses under the Habitat for Humanity scheme.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, Nana Owusu Afriyie, Chief of the town, commended the volunteers for their selflessness and their affection for the community as demonstrated in their readiness to stay in a remote area and also assist in providing houses for the people. He appreciated their contribution to the area and advised them not to be complacent but justify the honour done them by assisting the community.
