Investigations into state lands grabbing needless - CPP communicator

Mr. Peter Amewu announced investigations on the fraudulent sale of lands by NDC officials Mr. Peter Amewu announced investigations on the fraudulent sale of lands by NDC officials

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has questioned  a move by the Akufo-Addo led New Patriotic Party (NPP) government to investigate alleged fraudulent sale of state lands under the previous administration.

According to Ashanti Regional CPP Communications Officer, Mr. Osei Kofi Acquah, it is needles to hear such an announcement from the government.

The outspoken Communication Officer explained that both former appointees in NDC and NPP are guilty of selling state resources to themselves, therefore needless and unnecessary for the current government to launch full-scale investigations only into state lands grabbing by appointees under previous administration.

The Lands Ministry said it is investigating what it believes to be the fraudulent sale of state lands by the previous administration to party cronies.

According to the sector Minister, John Peter Amewu, state lands from 2013 were given away to cronies regardless of due process, liking it to the sale of “kelewele”.

“Why not past and present governments?”, Mr. Osei Kofi Acquah quizzed on Kumasi-based Abusua FM morning show hosted by Kwame Adinkra.

Meanwhile, private legal practitioner and member of ruling NPP in the Ashanti Region, Nana Yaw Osei, has questioned the motive behind the investigations.

He asked why only former government appointees who served from the year 2010 are being penciled by the government for investigations.

Speaking on a local radio station, he demanded that both present and past government officials, irrespective of political background, be investigated if there is any suspicion.
