Inusah bug ‘shocking’; ‘I feel naked’ - Osah Mills

Former Lands and Natural Resources Minister in the Mahama administration, Nii Osah Mills has expressed shock that an audio-visual recording device was hidden in his office by predecessor Inusah Fuseini for over two years without being told.

Nii Osah Mills was the last minister for that portfolio in the Mahama administration before the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government came into power in January 2017.

The bug was detected by National Security personnel during a regular security sweep.

Mr Fuseini has claimed ownership of the device. According to him, the gadget was given to him by one Haruna as a gift when he was the Minister to aid him monitor what went on in his office during absence.

According to him, the device was never functional since it was not installed fully, and so anxiety about spying on his successors was unnecessary.

However, Nii Osah Mills who had occupied the office before current Minister John Peter Amewu feels it was unfair to be kept in the dark by Mr Fuseini about the bugging.

“I used to work the whole day, sometime closed at 9pm or 10pm and certainly I feel almost naked in a sense,” he lamented.

He said he was unaware that there was something like that and only “heard about it in the news”.

“I’m surprised, absolutely; if you were in my shoes you would be, too. This is not something we expected especially when someone, a colleague planted it, which is very strange”.

“I ought to have been told and have it removed. I don’t think it was fair that a former minister, a colleague will plant a device and not inform me, whether it was working or not, that is not the question,” he added.
