A former Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Inusah Fuseini, has rejected growing calls to abolish the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), arguing that the office's mere existence provides a crucial, unquantifiable deterrent against corruption.
Speaking on Ade Akye Yen Bia on Okay FM on October 22, 2025, Fuseini insisted that although critics label the OSP a "paper tiger," its value in discouraging illicit acts is immense.
"I do not agree with such calls because the mere existence of the office deters people from advancing towards corruption.

"You can’t put value on deterrence of corruption actors due to the existence of the OSP," he said.
Fuseini also defended the OSP’s operational methods, stressing that complex criminal investigations cannot be fought in the open.
"Crime is not fought in the open, otherwise the criminals will have leads to re-strategise and evade justice. So, investigations are ongoing to unravel the truth behind the allegations," he explained.

He offered an international example, noting the case of a fugitive in Singapore who returned after 36 years to face justice, emphasising that those evading the law cannot remain outside the jurisdiction forever.
Addressing the matter involving former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, he noted that while the OSP is investigating, the former minister has not been charged and is currently not in Ghana.
"So, the fact is, he is not here, but we must get him in the jurisdiction to answer for allegations leveled against him. He cannot be outside forever," he said.
Fuseini also called for strong collaboration between the legal bodies, insisting that the matter must be handled efficiently and discreetly.
"The Attorney General must work together with the OSP to unravel this matter. This can be handled without any public razzmatazz," he said.
