Inordinate ambition causes conflicts in the sub-region- JAK

Kumasi, Aug.9, GNA- President John Agyekum Kufuor on Saturday, said inordinate ambition, narrow mindedness and greed have been the causes of insecurity and conflicts in the West African Sub-Region. He said a "lot of understanding and sacrifices to see the human feeling in God's creation was needed otherwise, the conflicts in the sub-region would spread to other peaceful countries".

President Kufuor was addressing the opening session of the Noble Order of the Knights and Ladies 6th Marshall Re-Union Conference in Kumasi.

The three-day conference has the theme "Living the Christian Life: Responsibilities, Challenges and Expectations".

The Knights of Marshall, a Catholic fraternal organisation with its headquarters in Sekondi, was founded on 18th November 1926, and it has 76 councils in Ghana, Togo, Benin and the United Kingdom.

The Ladies of Marshall, the female wing of the Noble Order was established on 20th December, 1969 and has 74 courts in Ghana, Togo, Benin and the United Kingdom.

President Kufuor said good deeds should be geared towards the Church and humanity as a whole.

He urged the members to use some of their time to pray for peace, adding, "sense of charity and fellow feeling should be central principles of what we want to achieve".

"The theme of your conference is apt and that the government appreciates and supports the work you are doing for humanity. Our world needs more institutions such as yours", he said.
