Inkoom donates to Children's Home and sheds tears

Kumasi, July 11, GNA - A defender of the senior national team, the Black Stars, Samuel Inkoom on Saturday broke down in tears as he donated quantity of food items and 1,000 US dollars to the Kumasi Children's Home.

The food items included five bags of rice, cooking oil, detergents, confectionaries and toilet rolls.

Inkoom who described himself as a friend of the Home, said he was moved by the plight of the children during an hour's interaction with them in Kumasi.

"I'm really touched by the unfortunate situation of these my little brothers and sisters as most of them have no parents and virtually no hope for the future, but I know God will provide", he told the GNA Sports after the presentation.

The Switzerland-based FC Basle player, who played a key role in the Stars' qualification to the quarter-finals of the FIFA 2010 World Cup in South Africa, was accompanied by members of the Inkoom Fan Club.

Inkoom pledged to pay regular visits to the Home whenever he is in the country.

The former player of Kumasi Asante Kotoko appealed to philanthropists to share their resources with the children to ensure their survival and development.

Ms Caroline Amponsah, Assistant Child Care Officer at the Home, thanked the player for his kind gesture and appealed to non-governmental organizations to support the Orphanage to complete the construction of its Social Centre.
