Inflation shoots up to 14%, the highest in 3 years

Inflation shot up marginally to 14 percent in February this year from 13.8 percent recorded in January.

It still remains the highest since March 2010. According to the Ghana Statistical Service, both food and non-food inflation shot up to 7.5 and 19 percent.

The main drivers of inflation were Housing, Water and Electricity; Transport; Miscellaneous Goods and Services; Mineral Water and Milk, Cheese and Eggs.

Meanwhile, the Ashanti region recorded the highest inflation rate of 16.7 percent during the month of February whilst the Upper West recorded the least inflation rate of 9.5 percent.

The Greater Accra region recorded an inflation rate of 14.4 percent.
