Independence Day must reawake our consciousness - Adams

Accra, March 5, GNA - Ghana stands for nothing but an extension of peace, political stability and prosperity in Africa and Ghanaians must rise to that consciousness as they celebrate the 53rd Independence Day, Mr Issah Musah Adams, President of Support Life International has urged. Speaking in commemoration of the Ghana's Independence anniversary, Mr Adams, who is also the Founder of Support Life, a NGO that promotes complementary health in Ghana and abroad, said every Ghanaian ought to be proud for contributing to bring the country this far.

He told the Ghana News Agency on the eve of the Independence Day which takes place on Saturday March 6th that each and everyone needed to be conscious and responsible for their thoughts and actions so as to contribute meaningfully to the country's development goals.

"We all need to know and understand what consciousness is all about as a people so that in the next generation this beloved nation of ours can be heaven on earth.

"Yes we can if all of us understand what consciousness and responsibility is all about," Mr Adams said and indicated that that was what Ghana's first President, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah meant when he said forward ever, backwards never.

He said Nkrumah was talking about individual responsibility and being conscious of ourselves hence our beloved motherland Ghana. "It was important that people learn to live effectively by wisely and skillfully using their knowledge and abilities.

"When we are preoccupied with our duties and relationships, even though we might routinely be attending to metaphysical studies and spiritual practices, we might not always be mindful of our real purpose of being in this world," Mr Adams added.

Trained in Antioch University, Los Angeles as a community and social development worker, Mr Adams announced that Support Life International would establish a health and yoga centre in Accra to promote issues about consciousness as well provide complementary health therapies. He said Support Life would engage in community and town activities where Ghanaians and other interested foreign nationals would also be guided towards creating healthy dietary habits, which would enhance their overall state of wellbeing.

Mr Adams wished Ghana a happy anniversary saying "Peace and light to Ghana and Mama Africa and the universe". This year's Independence Day celebration is under the theme: "Investing in the Youth for a Better Ghana". 5 March 10
