The Coalition of Unposted Qualified Trained Teachers with index numbers 2017 and below backlogs have called on the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to include them into the third batch of postings which according to them is underway, while a court proceeding against them is pending.
On 13 January 2020, the Ghana Police Service arrested 19 members of the coalition on the bases of acting unlawfully and abusing the public act in terms of disturbing when they marched to the Education Ministry to demand their postings.
They were arraigned before court on Wednesday, 15 January 2020 but the court did not sit.
In a statement the teachers said “we have not heard anything from Ghana Education Service (GES) and Ministry of Education (MOE). Per information we have gathered, in a week or two another list of postings will be released but ours may not be part.
“We are, therefore, appealing to all stakeholders to kindly do a follow up to Ghana Education Service and Ministry of Education to help include 2017 and 2016 Qualified Trained Teachers Backlogs into the third batch of postings which is underway, whiles court proceeding is pending.”
