Inauguration of Nana Oti Mpie Aben II in NJ

On Saturday; Sept. 12th, 2009, the City of Newark, New Jersey witnessed
one of the most memorable cultural event in its history. The Robert Treat
Hotel in Newark was the place to be as many witnessed a New Jersey resident
Nana Amoako Attah become Nana Oti Mpie Aben II, one of the Chiefs of the
Ashanti King - Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at a grand installation ceremony. Nana
Aben II was accompanied by Nana Owusu Edusei Panin II, Omanhene of
Abrenkese/Nyameani in Ghana.

It was a night filled with excitement; fashion and spectacular culture.
Dignitaries gracing the occasion included; Congressman Donald Payne -
NJ and Newark City Council President; Hon. Mildred Crump who also made
history in 1994 as the first African-American Councilwoman in the city?s
336-year history. She calls herself; ?The Ghana Girl?. Hon. Crump later in
the ceremony presented a certificate of citation to the new chief.

The Chairman of the occasion was Essex County College President; A. Zachary
Yamba. Amongst the special guests included; Nana Anane Amponsah, NY
Asantefuohene, Nana Abena Manu, NY Asantefuohemaa, Nana Kofi
Boateng, Washington Metro; Asantefuohene, Nana Yaa Asantewaa II,
Ejisuhemaa, Nana Yaa Pokuaa Ababio, Dichemsohemaa, Ms Rose Quarshie;
Executive Secretary General of National Council of Ghanaian Associations
(NCOGA), NY and many chiefs and queens representing various towns in Ghana.

Attendees came from all over the United States, Ghana and Europe to
be a part of this memorable occasion. Nana Oti Mpie Aben II on behalf of
his family offered his sincere gratitude to all who came to witness the
inauguration. He stated that he will use the opportunity offered him to the
less fortunate ones in his area and Ghana as a whole. He has already
embarked on some vocational projects.
