An Immigration Officer, Felix Ntoah, together with four others have been arrested and placed in police custody for alleged criminal activities.
The other suspects are Fuseini Ayari, Charles Yeboah, Kofi Boakye and Richard Takyi.
Two locally manufactured pistols, eight live cartridges, handcuff, cash of GH¢300.00 and large quantities dried leaves suspected to be cannabis were found on them.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Augustine Gyening, the Ashanti Regional Commander, said the arrest followed improved intelligence gathering.
He said the suspects were picked at different locations.
Ntoah, attached to the Baglu office of the immigration service in the Volta Region, was apprehended at Fahiakobo near Jacobu in the Amansie Central District, where he had gone to rob a mine with two accomplices.
The two managed to slip through.
Boakye and Takyi were grabbed at Abrakoso near Jacobu. This was after robbing the Second Page Mining Company, operated by some Chinese.
One of the victims, whose name was given as Youg Shine, was injured in the rib and had since been flown to China for treatment.
The other two suspects Yeboah and Ayari were arrested separately at the Asafo Neoplan and Kumasi Railways Station, carrying cannabis and a locally-manufactured pistol.
DCOP Gyening said the Police would do everything to rein in the miscreants and appealed for more public support.
