New details shared by the Ghana Police Service about the death of 33-year-old Nana Yaw Kyere, a Circle phone dealer, has brought to light striking similarities between his case and that of immigration officer Stephen King Amoah, who was tragically murdered in 2025.

Although the two cases occurred at different times, details from the police investigations point to similarities in how the victims were allegedly lured, killed, and how attempts were made to conceal their deaths.

Immigration Officer

Stephen Amoah, a 38-year-old immigration officer, was declared missing after he was last seen on the night of July 3, 2025, when he left his residence at Ashongman Estate.

He had reportedly received photos of cash bundles from the suspect, Bright Aweh, who had promised to meet him and repay a debt.

Amoah did not return home that night, and his phone remained unreachable, prompting his family to report him missing on July 4, 2025.

Police investigations led to the arrest of Aweh on July 6, 2025.

During interrogation, he admitted meeting Amoah and handing him GH₵500,000 in cash.

He claimed GH₵200,000 was meant to settle debts and that Amoah was to keep the remaining amount.

However, inconsistencies in his account and questions about the source of the money raised suspicion.

On July 9, 2025, a severely burnt body was found in a gutter near the GBC Satellite area, opposite Comet Estate.

Relatives later identified the remains as those of Stephen King Amoah.

Police said a search of Aweh’s residence uncovered blood stains in the living room, signs of a rushed clean-up, freshly sprayed walls and an empty can of spray paint.

At a second crime scene nearby, police recovered a burnt woollen carpet, blood-stained camouflage fabric and a fufu pestle soaked in blood. The items were hidden in a bush about 100 metres from Aweh’s residence.

Another detail that emerged was the alleged use of Amoah’s phone after his disappearance.

A message was reportedly sent from the phone to his wife suggesting that he had returned home safely with the money.

However, the message raised suspicion, prompting his wife to ask a relative to check on him. The relative arrived at his residence but found that he was not there.

Nana Yaw Kyere

A similar sequence of events has emerged in the case of Nana Yaw Kyere, who left his home at Kokomlemle in Accra in his Honda Civic on September 19, 2026, and did not return.

According to the police, Kyere was allegedly lured to the residence of suspect Philip Tefe at Teshie Agbleza by another suspect, Sarah Osei Adams.

Police said a confrontation occurred at the residence, during which Tefe allegedly attacked Kyere and hit him with a metallic object, causing injuries.

Kyere was then moved to another room, where he was left unattended and later died.

His body was subsequently conveyed in a Kia Morning vehicle to a location near the motorway on September 20, 2026, where it was dumped in a bush and set ablaze.

The partially burnt body was discovered at Community 18 on September 21, 2026.

Details from Kyere’s private chats with a friend before his death also point to another similarity with the Amoah case.

Kyere had sent his location at the residence to his friend and reportedly told him that he had been set up.

However, after some hours, the messages appeared to suggest that the situation had been resolved and that he was on his way home.

Similarities between the two cases

While the circumstances of the two deaths are different, three similarities stand out from the details of the investigations.

First, both victims were allegedly lured to locations where they later died. Amoah had gone to meet Aweh over a monetary matter, while Kyere was allegedly taken to Tefe’s residence by Adams.

Second, the victims’ phones were allegedly used after they had disappeared. In Amoah’s case, a message was sent to his wife suggesting that he had returned home safely. In Kyere’s case, subsequent chats gave the impression that the situation at the residence had been resolved and that he was heading home.

Third, the bodies were partially burnt after the deaths. Amoah’s severely burnt remains were found near the GBC Satellite area, while Kyere’s body was dumped in a bush near the motorway and set ablaze.

The similarities raise questions about the methods allegedly used in both cases to delay suspicion and conceal the victims’ deaths.

Meanwhile, both cases are still in court as police investigations continue. In the Circle phone dealer’s case, it has been adjourned to October 16, 2026, while the immigration officer’s case has been adjourned to October 20, 2026.
