A Ghanaian opposition supporter waits at a giant billboard at Independence Square in Accra, Ghana, as preliminary results from Thursday's exit poll are posted manually by National Electoral Commission workers Friday, Dec. 8, 2000. With ballots counted in 53 of 200 constituencies, opposition leader John Agyekum Kuffuor had 58 percent of the vote, compared to 38 percent for Vice President John Atta Mills, the president's hoped-for successor.
