The Special Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority, Mr. Davis Opoku has rubbished allegations that the NHIA has invested 3.4 Million Ghana Cedis in Menzgold which is locked up due to the current crisis ongoing between SEC and the Gold trading firm.

Speaking on Oman FM morning show, hosted by Gordon Asare Bediako, OPK said that the NDC is panicked at the achievement of the Akufo-Addo led government in health financing, thus their attempt to bury them, using this negative propaganda.

He said, “The rules and regulations governing NHIA does not allow for such high-risk ventures and wondered why and how the Pro NDC newspapers and their apparatchiks would jump to make such assertions.”

He believes the NDC is panicked at how the Akufo Addo led government has cleared the over 1.2 Billion debt. “When President Akufo Addo said he was going to clear those arrears in 18 Months, the NDC thought it was not possible. Today, the NHIA has done that and even paid January and February 2018 claims”.

He said the introduction of new printers, that is reducing time spent on membership registration and the soon to be launched SMS for renewals and verification has brought shivers to the spines of the NDC.”
