Aviation Minister and Member of Parliament (MP) for Navrongo Central, Joseph Kofi Adda has announced his dedication of 20% of his share of the District Assembly Common Fund to support activities that will empower and grow the potential and enhance the welfare of women in his constituency.

Mr. Adda, who joins the rest of the world to celebrate women today, said his dedication would be part of efforts to help build a solid and stable society for Navrongo’s future generations which rests largely on the shoulders of women.

Mr. Adda said women played an influential role in the society and there was the need for institutions and individuals to positively and consciously work towards strengthening their economic empowerment, especially those from the rural areas.

“On this occasion, I wish to urge all of us to positively and consciously strengthen the institutions of governance as well as financial resources to enhance the welfare of women. By so doing, we are building a solid and stable society for our children in particular. In Navrongo, I will dedicate 20% of my share of the District Assembly Common Fund for this purpose”.

In a statement he issued Sunday, wishing the hardworking women in his constituency, region and country well in the celebration, Mr. Adda noted that the value of women could never be overlooked. He said women have over the years worked hard to rub shoulders with male counterparts in their professional careers which have greatly shaped society.

Mr. Adda said as MP the economic stability of women in his constituency has always been a priority of his leadership, which has seen more women in his constituency empowered with loan facilities and other forms of support.

“The value of women to our lives cannot be overstated; their roles at home, as teachers, nurses and recently as engineers, judges, pilots etc. all attest to the fact that women, indeed are necessary partners to make the world complete."

"This is why over the years, I have committed and secured resources such as loans to support their economic empowerment. From these, many women, in a partnership with their husbands have been able to support their children to get good education and some are working and occupying good positions”.

Noting the resolution of government to kick out poverty and to address the difficulties of women in the country, he urged them to embrace the good policies and programs rolled out by the government to improve their lives and that of their families.

He assured to work in close collaboration with authorities to get more support for women in the constituency.
