IPS launches Professional Week celebration

Accra, Sept. 10, GNA - This year's Professional Week celebration was launched in Accra on Wednesday with a call on professionals to be honest and assist the government to achieve its Golden Age of Business goal.

Ms Elizabeth Ohene, Minister of State In-charge of Tertiary Education, said to contribute effectively in the Golden Age of Business, professionals must place value on confidentiality and the multiplicity of expectations of stakeholders.

The celebration is on the theme, "The Contribution of the Business Professional in the Golden Age of Business".

The Minister said the contributions of business professionals are important if the country has to benefit from the Golden Age of Business. "As business professionals at our chosen fields of endeavours, we have added responsibility to take positive steps forward so that our footprints will leave indelible marks that could be emulated by those who expect leadership role from us," she said.

Ms Ohene said the urgent need to upgrade and rehabilitate tertiary institutions is a reality that stares in the face of government each day.

However, she said, these facilities could not be upgraded or rehabilitated over night even though every member of government sees education as a priority.

He therefore, urged the students and teachers to exercise patience while they tackle the issue.

The Reverend Father J. J. K. Martey, Director of IPS, urged professional to ensure that their colleagues practice moral management. He appealed to government and the public to assist the six students who had all their belongings burnt in a fire outbreak in the school last May.

"I'm also appealing to Reverend Ministers to come to the aid of the affected students and offer them counselling to enable them to overcome the incident."

Mr Emmanuel Abuga-Williams, SRC President, called on the government and philanthropists to assist the school to build a hostel and upgrade the computer laboratory.
