ICU Boss Must Go ? Workers

The members of Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU) of the TUC will on Saturday, launch a campaign at Tema to call for the removal from office of their General Secretary, Napoleon Kpoh. The campaign, which is themed ?the need for a change?, will be attended by union members from other regional capitals. It is to be led by one Francis Davor.

A source told the ?Free Press? in an interview that for the past twelve years that Mr. Kpoh has been in office as the general secretary, his performance has not ben satisfactory.

According to the source, ICU members find nothing wrong with their intended action because Mr. Kpoh?s term of office has almost ended and that they no longer have confidence in him as a leader who should man the affairs of the Union.

The source however contended that Mr. Kpoh?s decision to stand for re-election for another four-year term, would be a ?mirage? because almost each and every member of the union is fed up with how affairs are being managed, adding that, Mr. Kpoh will certainly lose.

The aim of the campaign according to the source is to project a new image for the union, reconcile all union members and encourage youthful leaders to manage the affairs of the union among others.

It said the general membership of the union have come to the conclusion that Mr. Napoleon Kpoh?s way of handling pertinent issues concerning the union is nothing good to write home about hence the need for a change.
