The Chief Executive officer (CEO) of Zoomlion, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong has said when given total control of Agbogbloshie market within sixty days he would transform the place and clear it of its current filth.

According to Dr. Agyepong he would use the people in Agbogbloshie to change the system, again human beings are very easy to manage.

“If they know death is closer they would change no one want to die, increase your well beings by keeping your surroundings clean”, he lamented.

Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong further lamented in an interview that the behaviour and attitude that the traders exhibit at their various homes are the same kind they bring to the Agbogbloshie market.

“All we need is total solutions placing refuse bins around to collect refuse, sweeping of the place and enforcing sanitation sanctions, let us have the fundamentals right”, he said.

In addition we should ensure that guidelines of a market are adhered to, you have one entity sweeping just after sweeping the next minute rubbish get dump at the same place, another entity is enforcing the law.

“The whole thing must end with one entity managing the place, you cannot stay here and sale in a dirty environment, you would become sick everyday they are inhaling toxics which would kill you gradually”.

He made this remarks when the Sanitation and Water Resources Minister stormed Agbogbloshie market to join the early morning market exercise.

Mrs. Cecilia Abena Dapaah wanted Zoomlion to make refuse bins made available at the mark, whiles the Accra Metropolitan Assembly sanitation (AMA) coordinator was blaming Zoomlion for the rubbish around the market.

Investigations carried out by ghanaweb.com uncovered that the only duty of Zoomlion was to collect waste in the market whiles AMA enforce laws with regards to sanitation in the market.
