Dr Micheal Boadi Nyamekye, General Overseer of the Makers House Chapel International, has said that while prayer is essential, it shouldn't interfere with work hours.
He emphasized, however, that work-life balance for Christians is important to boost productivity.
His comments were captured in a video clip shared on X by Joy FM.
"You can't use productive working hours to pray," he indicated.
Drawing a clear line between spiritual duties and professional responsibilities, Dr Nyamekye stated that if a person is employed, it is expected of them to fulfil their work obligations during working hours.
He added that if he found anyone using working hours to pray, he would fire such a person.
"I will fire you if you leave the office during work hours to go and pray," he stated.
However, he clarified that this doesn't mean he's opposed to prayer; rather, he believes in prioritising tasks and maintaining a healthy balance between work and spiritual life.
Dr Nyamekye encouraged Christians to be diligent and responsible in their professional lives while still nurturing their spiritual growth.
