Embattled member of the legal team of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abraham Amaliba, is accusing the ‘biased’ media of twisting his recent comments regarding attempts to impeach Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Charlotte by some petitioners.

Amaliba in an interview says he did not say Ghana will burn if the EC boss is removed from office.

The lawyer says a large section of the Ghanaian media is uncomfortable anytime actions of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), and its operatives are criticized because the media politically tainted in NPP colours.

Abraham Amaliba has come under intense public backlash following media reports quoting him as saying Ghana will burn if the Electoral Commissioner is removed from office.

But he denies the reports explaining, “you the media have become so biased that you don’t want the NPP and its government to be criticized.”

According to him, the current government is using the system to harass Mrs Osei, a situation he said does not augur well for the stability of the country.

“It is never true that I said Ghana will burn, what I told the host is that if Madam Charlotte Osei removed from office, Ghana may not be peaceful and when that happens, my house will be burnt and the host’s house too will be burnt.”

“That does not mean I said Ghana will burn…I am not surprised the media is misreporting me because they hate it when we criticize the government, but I am assuring you that we will continue to criticize the government and they can continue to misreport us in their reportage,” he insisted.
