I will uproot NDC like cassava – Paul Afoko

Paul Afoko, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who is vying for the national chairmanship position of the party, says he will uproot the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government from power like cassava in the 2016 polls if the party’s delegates elect him as chairman.

He said he has a special strategy, dubbed ‘New Plan for Power (NPP),’ which would help the largest opposition political party in the country to recapture power from the NDC in the next elections.

Highlighting his strategy, Mr. Afoko said the new plan would start with the total restructuring of the NPP from the grassroots level to the top.

He told Hello Fm that as part of the new plan, the NPP would be properly rebranded to give it a new image that would make it attractive to new members.

Explaining further, he said as chairman he would ensure the continuous training of the party’s executives from polling station to constituency through to region and national levels.

Mr. Afoko observed that the continuous training would help make the NPP members understand election regulations to help them detect and counter any bad tactics of their opponents during election.

The 2016 polls are just around the corner therefore the NPP has no time to waste. I will embark on vigorous and effective campaign to unseat the NDC.”

Mr. Afoko, a Northerner, vehemently debunked the assertion that the NPP is an Asante party, stressing that the party embraces all manner of people irrespective of their lineage.

Mr. Afoko tasked all Northerners residing in the Ashanti region to convince their relations back home that the NPP does not belong to the Asantes only.

He sternly warned the NPP not to repeat its past mistakes and shun backbiting.
