I will reclaim the Chiana/Paga seat – Abuga Pele

Kayoro (UE/R), July 26, GNA – Mr Abuga Pele, National Coordinator of the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP), has vowed to reclaim the Chiana/Paga Constituency Parliamentary seat from the opposition NPP if given the nod to run for elections in 2012.

He said the seat, which slipped to the NPP by default in 2008 needed to be wrestled back and that no stone would be left unturned to ensure a massive victory in 2012 for both the Parliamentary and the Presidential elections in the constituency.

Mr Pele gave the assurance at the weekend when he met delegates and party faithfuls in Kayoro to formally declare his intention to run for the elections in 2012.

Mr Pele earlier met with delegates and party executives, opinion leaders and chiefs from Mirigu, Kandiga, Nabongo and Sirigu in the Eastern zone of the constituency.

Other areas he visited included Nakong, Katiu/Saa, Chiana Central, Chiana East, Asunia and Paga central where enthusiastic youth met and pledged their willingness to help him reclaim the seat.

“We are poised to take the seat back from the NPP and what we need to do is to ensure total unity not to only win the Parliamentary seat back but also to ensure a resounding victory for President Mills to continue his good governance policies to the people of Ghana”, he said.

Mr Pele said: “We all know that there is no way NPP would ever win the Chiana/Paga seat if we were united like we are now. What happened was human error and we now need to promise ourselves that such a mistake would not repeat itself.”

He promised to support the one who would emerge winner from the primary to contest for the seat and appealed to other candidates who would lose to support the victor to ensure victory in 2012.

Mr James Kojo Kopanamo, Chiana/Paga Constituency chairman of the party appealed to delegates to learn from the outcome of the party’s National Congress in Sunyani where the party became more united afterwards and should emulate that example after the constituency primary.

“We should avoid the mistakes of 2008 and ensure that the Chiana/Paga constituency is part of the success stories of 2012”, he said.

He said: “this is not the time for us to fight but a time for us to unite for a massive victory. We should not think that the elections can be won easily, we need a strong and credible person who can reclaim to seat for us”.

He appealed to the delegates to vote wisely during the primary.
