I will offer quality leadership-Addo-Kuffuor

Takoradi, Nov. 23, GNA- Dr Kwame Addo-Kuffuor, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Aspirant, on Thursday said he is contesting for the flagbearship of the party on his own merit and not because he is the brother of the President.

At a meeting with constituency delegates at Takoradi, he said the argument that "Kuffour go, Kuffour come" does not hold. Dr Addo-Kuffour said he became a Member of Parliament and accomplished a lot for his constituency before the President came to power. He said he wants to be President to offer the quality leadership that the country requires especially at this stage of its development. Dr Addo-Kuffour said the presidential aspirants of the party should be judged on their track records. He said he made his mark as the Minister of Defense and the acting Minister of the Interior and has an enviable track record in both sectors.

Dr Addo-Kuffour asked delegates who would attend the NPP National Congress to accept whatever gifts and money the aspirants would give them but they should elect a flagbearer who has a good track record. He said countries like Malaysia have overtaken Ghana in development, despite the numerous natural resources that abound, because of the lack of quality and competent leadership. He said he would offer transparent and visionary leadership that would make it possible to harness the countries human and natural resources for development.

Dr Addo-Kuffour spoke of the accomplishments of the government of President Kufuor, saying that, the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) is a major legacy.
