A broadcast journalist with the Multimedia Group Limited, Carlos Calony, has narrated a troubling account of how he was physically assaulted by military operatives while covering a demolition exercise at the warehouse of business magnate and owner of the McDan Group, Daniel Mckorley in Accra.

According to Calony, the McDan Group CEO and three others were forced to kneel at gunpoint during the incident.

The confrontation occurred when Calony and his crew were reporting on the demolition of a warehouse, reportedly belonging to McDan.

Heavily armed National Security operatives stormed the site, and the situation quickly escalated.

Recounting his ordeal on JoyNews's The Pulse on July 30, the journalist said, "I was punched. By then, the CEO of McDan Group and three others were asked to kneel. So, they were kneeling at gunpoint."

The operatives, believing the journalist had filmed the scene, then turned their attention to him and a bystander who was also present.

Calony explained that while he and his crew had attempted to film the moment, they were not successful.

The soldiers, however, assumed they had captured the footage of the McDan boss kneeling, he added.

The soldiers accused the group of interfering in the lawful demolition, though the journalist noted that the McDan CEO stated he had not been shown any official documents authorising the operation.

Following the confrontation, Calony, along with the McDan CEO and the others, were arrested and taken to a National Security facility.

The journalist added that they were later released and driven back to the scene under military escort to retrieve his vehicle.

However, he said the scrutiny did not end there.

He recounted having he and his driver's phones searched by seven armed men, who demanded to see any visuals that might have been captured.

He also stated that the soldiers' primary concerns seemed to be preventing the footage of the McDan CEO kneeling at gunpoint from being made public.
