Embattled National Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Boateng Gyan, has expressed regret at implicating the Finance Minister, Kwabena Duffour, in his encounter with some party loyalists whom he held a secret meeting with.
Yaw Boateng Gyan is captured on a leaked tape from the meeting promising to fix some party loyalists into the security services. He was heard on the tape saying he could secure sponsorship for some of the party loyalists and their families from the Finance Minister.
He however insists his intentions have been misconstrued. He spoke to XYZ News on the sidelines of the NDC’s National Executive Committee meeting at which Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur was unanimously endorsed as President Mahama’s running mate.
A remorseful Boateng Gyan said “well, what I shouldn't have mentioned is the name of the Minister of Finance because at the end of the day, he wasn’t even the person that I approached.”
He however stood by his comments saying that there is nothing wrong with trying to seek the interest of the party.
Mr Boateng Gyan further indicated that the party has people who are ready to finance its activities.
