I respect street hawkers although street hawking is bad - Frank Agyin

A private legal practitioner and a former Member of Parliament (MP), for Effiduase-Asokore Frank Agyin has said, although street hawking is a dangerous phenomenon, those who sell on the streets should be commended.

According to him, when he sees young people literally taking over the streets of Accra, selling everything from fresh fruits to toilet paper to electronics, and the dangers involved, he sees such people as extremely hardworking.

He was responding to a question on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM on the challenges MPs face in terms of financial demands from especially unemployed youth.

He was asked why successive government have failed to provide jobs for the youth so they will stop making financial demands from politicians especially MPs.

Creating sustainable jobs he explained, is premised on a strong economy and every individual will be glad to have a job doing irrespective of how little the pay will be.

He said, ‘’I respect those who sell on the street. It is not good but I respect them. It is dangerous but they are able to save from the little they get. Creating a sustainable job depends on how buoyant the economy is,’’ he stated.

He said when jobs are created, it will create a country of happy people and the financial pressure on politicians will be reduced drastically.
