I pray God grants Sophia Akuffo wisdom, strength for new role - Charlotte Osei

The Electoral Commissioner of Ghana (EC) Madam Charlotte Osei has sent a warm congratulatory message to the newly nominated Chief Justice, Ms.Justice Sophia Akuffo.

Ms. Akuffo who was outdoored on Friday at the presidency by the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, takes over from her Ladyship Georgina Theodora Wood.

Her Ladyship Theodora retires in June, 2017.

Madam Charlotte prayed God grants Justice Sophia strength, courage and wisdom to lead her outfit.

In a statement issued by the Chairperson of EC, she recalled meeting the new Chief Justice in 1992 as a young law student at her office at Mobil House where she was General Counsel at the time.

“I am totally thrilled at the nomination of Her Ladyship Sophia Akuffo JSC as our next Chief Justice. I first met Her Ladyship in 1992 as a young law student at her office at Mobil House where she was General Counsel at the time.

“Her knowledge of the law is solid. She’s an extremely brilliant woman, with solid credentials and solid integrity. I believe she will lead our judiciary with wisdom and purpose. We pray that God grants her strength, courage, and wisdom. Congratulations, Her Ladyship,’ she said a statement.

Meanwhile, the Gender and Women Affairs Minister Nana Oye Lithur has also congratulated Justice Sophia.
