The outgoing deputy Ashanti regional Police commander ACP Osei Ampofo Duku has stated that he owes no policeman in the region an apology for his rather strong fisted style of disciplining and meting out punishment to men of the force who fell fowl to standards.

ACP Osei Ampofo Duku is headed for the police headquarters as a director of police welfare after serving as 2IC in the Ashanti Region for the past three years.

One thing that the police service in the Ashanti region will remember him for was his strict insistence of discipline which landed many wayward personnel in trouble.

This posturing earned him a silent nick name “Pharaoh “among personnel who would usually describe him as the most unpredictable in his choice of punitive measures for his men.

Speaking exclusively to Ultimate News’ Ivan Heathcote – Fumador, ACP Ampofo Duku insisted “Yes, I am a disciplinarian and I don’t entertain excuse me to say nonsense. I believe the fact that you must be disciplined in order to discipline somebody who must have fallen foul of the law.”

“Just as we take anybody on who is not a policeman when he commits an offence, the same way we take a police man on when he also commits an offence. There should be no discrimination,” he contended firmly.

He was however satisfied with the successes his office had chalked especially in the reduction of violent crime in the Ashanti region under his watch.
