The Minister of Foreign Affairs Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey has cautioned Ghanaians to disregard phoney social media accounts in her name seeking to distort money from unsuspecting persons for jobs.

According to the Foreign Minister, her attention has been drawn to some fake Facebook accounts duping people with the hope of getting them employment.

She said some of the accounts are being used to promise some frustrated Ghanaians passports due to the exasperating processes people have to go through in acquiring the official travel document.

“Good morning Facebook family, It has come to my attention that there are several social media accounts with my name being used to dupe unsuspecting Ghanaians,” Ms. Botchwey warned via her official Facebook wall.

“These fraudsters are requesting money in return for employment opportunities and promising passports. Please be vigilant and do not fall victim to this. This is my only official Facebook account. Thank you,” she added.
