I'll take Ghana to the promised land - Akufo-Addo

Nsuaem-Kyekyewere (C/R), Aug. 27, GNA - The flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffu-Addo, on Tuesday re-assured Ghanaians that he was the on e God had appointed to take Ghanaians to the "promised land".

He said there was no political party in the country with credible developmental agenda than the NPP adding that President Kufuor had already laid a strong foundation for the nation and he was going to put a "beautiful structure" on it for Ghana to become a "top class nation". At a rally attended by thousands of supporters of the party at Nsuaem-Kyekyewere in the Assin South District of the Central Region, the NPP flag bearer said the party needed more years in power for it to achieve its vision for the country and called on Ghanaians to vote massively for it to continue the good works of the Kufuor administration.

Throwing more light on his vision for the country, Nana Akuffo-Addo said he would concentrate on human resource development and urged all to educate their children since the "industrial Ghana" would need a skilful workforce to propel its development agenda forward. On the oil exploration, Nana Akuffo-Addo said it had been estimated to fetch the country an amount of 15 billion dollars within a period of five years from 2010 to 2015 and stressed that Ghana will be a "better place" for all under his administration because he would ensure total development of all communities in the country.

Mr Allan Kyeremanten, the former Minister of Trade, Industry and Presidential Special Initiative (PSI), said the NPP would not engage in politics of insults but would continue to address issues and urged all supporters and sympathisers to join in the campaign to win more people for the party.

Other towns visited by the team in the Assin South district included, Nyankumasi, Nsuta and Assin Manso where the parliamentary candidate, Professor Dominic Fobih was introduced to a large crowd In the Assin North constituency, grand durbars were held at Assin Fosu, Akropong and Bereku where the team including Mr Kwabena Agyapong and Mr Boakye Agyarko former presidential aspirants, took turns to address the crowd. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, parliamentary candidate for the district was also introduced to the gathering. Mr Agyapong said the country needed a person who was courageous, old and a unifier who was also focused like Nana Akuffo-Addo to move it forward.

Mr Agyarko on his part said this year's election was important because it would take the country into another milestone and therefore the electorates should make informed choices in order not to draw the country back.

Other communities the team toured in that district included Wurakese, Akonfudi, Atonsu and Edubease.

Earlier, the campaign team visited Abakrampa, Asebu and Abura Dunkwa in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese (AAK) District where Mr Maxwell Baidoo, the parliamentary candidate was introduced to the teaming party supporters.
