President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says he will develop Ekumfi to honour the late Professor John Evans Atta Mills.
Speaking at a durbar held by the chiefs and people of Ekumfi to welcome him, President Akufo-Addo said: “Nananom, our son former President Mills was my best [friend] in the university in the same hall and I will not fail him in terms of development.”
The president expressed profound gratitude to the good people of Ekumfi Constituency for voting for him to become the president of Ghana.
In an interview with Onua FM’s Central Region correspondent Kwame Kakarba later, the Acting Paramount Chief of Ekumfi Traditional Council, Nana Idun, commended the president for honouring their Member of Parliament with a deputy ministerial position.
Together with sub-chiefs, Nana Idun called for more development projects in district. He appealed to the government to rehabilitate the only community day SHS in the district – Akyen Community Day SHS.
He also appealed to the government to establish a landing beach to help the indigenous fishermen.
Nana Idun recalled the president’s visit tp Ekumfi Constituency during the 2016 electioneering campaign and how he had promised to nominate a native for a ministerial position when given the nod.
“Nana Addo God bless you for your honouring your promise. We are most grateful.”
