I’ll ‘go public’ if Akufo-Addo dares intervene in Rawlings’ crony’s contract - Ken Agyapong

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is being ‘warned’ by his close friend, outspoken Member of Parliament for Assin Central Honourable Kennedy Agyapong not to attempt to intervene in the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) Cargo Center contract of one Traboulsi Marwan, who the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) is alleging to be a “crony” of a former first family, MYNEWSGH.com can report.

Mr Kennedy Agyapong is alleging that the owner of the ‘questionable’ contract is a crony of former President John Rawlings and his wife, for which reason he has been operating without due process since 20th July 2012, when his contract was first signed for the use of the facility at the Kotoka International Airport.

Mr. Kennedy Agyapong is also alleging that the cargo area given to Traboulsi to run on the ‘dubious’ contract has become a place for questionable activities as Traboulsi, the leasee is running the place without proper checks because “he is a crony of former President John Rawlings and his wife”.

With questions raised about the operation of the Cargo contract, Mr Kennedy Agyapong is telling the President not to intervene should it be reported to him for his action.

He was speaking on Oman FM Thursday night as MYNEWSGH.com monitored:

“I respect the President very much, but if he gets himself involved in this issue, I will put out every detail into the public domain!”, he vowed.

He was however quick to add that he knows and trusts the judgment of the President.

“I know the way he (President Akufo-Addo) is strict, he doesn’t want to hear such issues. They should cancel the contract or sit with him to review it.”

It was not just the President who was warned off by the outspoken lawmaker. Other governments and party officials were asked to take a cue from the President.

“Any official who tries me on this matter, I will disgrace you”, Mr Agyapong said.

Kennedy Agyapong, to emphasize how serious he was about his threat swore by his late father:

“I swear by my father who I went to meet dead with his mouth and eyes widely opened. I swear! Nobody should come. Everyone comes and begs. What is happening?”, he quizzed.

“In Ghana, when you talk about issues that will help ordinary people for sanity to prevail then they are calling you and begging you. I will not listen. Anybody. Whoever you are. Anything that is not good for President Akufo-Addo’s administration and good for Ghana, I will talk. So it is simple”, he added.

Mr Kennedy Agyapong maintained that from what he saw in the Airport Cargo contract, Traboulsi Marwan was not working in the interest of the republic of Ghana and the contracts should be abrogated, or reviewed.

“How can you have an agreement with this company on 20th July 2012 and tell us that by Regulations of the Company the draft will be provided by the Ghana Airport Company Limited. On basic terms to incorporate, [point] one, NIL-rent during initial term… and [point] two, the initial term is 20 years. No rent for 20 years! Who does that?”, he asked.

“So those who gave this guy the contract, does their mind work? I don’t know whether the guy is a Pakistani, or Iranian or Lebanese, but who cares about that. They have to abrogate this contract and review it. Review it!”, he stressed.

“Traboulsi Marwan, I hear his best friend is former President Rawlings and former first lady. I don’t care about that. I care about Ghana”, he said.
