I have heart problem – Lebanese ‘rapist’ pleads in court

The counsel for Rabih Haddad, a Lebanese national who is on remand has pleaded at the Accra High criminal court to grant the accused bail since he has a heart problem.

Lawyer Ralph Opoku Adusei pleading for bail for his client told the court that the accused has been visiting hospital since he was arrested and has a medical report to prove as submitted as exhibit.

Kasapa FM’s Court Correspondent, Daakyehene Ofosu Agyeman reported that the lawyer prayed the court to grant the accused bail since he has no criminal record, he’s a family man with two children, sole bread winner and willing to hand over his passport.

Mr Opoku Adusei added that the landlord of the accused has evicted him because of the alleged rape case.

A state Attorney, Boateng Adamu however opposed the bail application saying the accused is a foreigner and has no fixed residence and may interfere with investigation when granted bail.

Mr Haddad has been arrested for allegedly raping his 19-year-old house help at Airport Hills residential area in Accra.

The presiding Judge, Justice Kofi Dorgu has fixed 15th January, 2018 to rule on the bail application.
