I have cash and can litigate – Pastor

Head Pastor of Mighty Chapel International, Chief Mensah, whose church members beat up journalist on duty Monday, has been boasting of the many advantages he has over his victims, should the case travel the long haul.

On Monday, three reporters from Adom FM, an Accra based radio station, including a news editor, Nii Narku Dorwuona and a news anchor, Kofi Adomah, were beaten up by angry members of the Mighty Chapel International, near Kotobabi, in Accra.

But the head Pastor of the church, Chief Mensah, says he is well resourced financially to litigate the case to wherever it may end up.

In a voice recording of the pastor, in possession of The Chronicle, an angry Chief Mensah was heard beating his chest about his financial wherewithal and his spiritual powers, which makes him supreme in the ensuing case.

“… if it comes to the physical realm, I have money to litigate. Spiritually, you are no match. I have a lot of following. I run the Church, and I have money to litigate" Chief Mensah ranted at the assaulted journalist.

The battered journalist have since reported the case to the Kotobabi police, but have since expressed grave concerns about the lackadaisical attitude of the police to prosecute the case.

Nii Narku Dorwuona, a news editor of the station, who was also assaulted at the church premises expressed his disappointment at the way the police were handling the case and said he was shocked to the core to learn that the police officials handling the case have been granting interviews to a number of radio stations and denying that they (journalist) have not reported the case to the police.

Mr. Dorwuona insisted that he and his colleagues reported the case to the Kotobabi Police the same day the incident happened. He noted that their statements were taken at the same police station and he finds the turn of events rather interesting.

The Mighty Chapel episode brings fresh memories of a similar incident that happened not too long ago, when head pastor of the International Gods Way Ministry, Bishop Daniel Obinim entered a radio station in Accra and clubbed journalist at the radio station and vandalized properties belonging to the station.

Two years after the incident which made headlines in the country, the case is still pending in court.
