I didn’t fail law school - Baba Jamal

Baba Jamal, Deputy Employment Minister Baba Jamal, Deputy Employment Minister

The Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Baba Jamal, has dismissed claims that he failed his law school examination on several occasions.

Baba Jamal, who is also the Member of Parliament for the Akwatia Constituency, was one of 219 lawyers who were called to the bar in October last year after nine years of burning the midnight candle.

He said his journey started in 2004 when he enrolled on the bachelor of laws programme at the University of Ghana, but had to defer his course on many occasions due to his active role in politics.

Speaking on Starr Chat Wednesday, Mr. Jamal said claims that he was a serial failure in law school are completely false.

“I started my LLB in 2004… I completed LLB in 2009 when we had just won an election and I was sent outside Accra to Koforidua so I had to defer...in 2012 I was brought back to Accra but I was going back to a major election in 2011, I decided that I was not going to continue with the law...so I decided to finish the elections and go back.

“So of course I didn’t fail,” Mr. Jamal told sit-in host Nana Aba Anamoah.
