The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Shippers Authority, Prof Ransford Gyampo, has condemned what he describes as ‘fabricated lies’ and ‘insults’ against Ghanaians who are genuinely trying to help with the development of the country.
Prof Gyampo, a senior political science lecturer at the University of Ghana, in a statement sighted by GhanaWeb, said that these actions deter well-meaning Ghanaians from taking roles in public office.
The CEO, who himself has recently indicated he is a victim of the ‘fabricated lies and insults’, asserted that the practices must be looked at seriously by the country, adding that he remained unperturbed by all the fabrications that have been levelled against him.
“By the grace of God, I was created with a resilient soul that naturally cannot be broken down by anything, gye Nyame. But I am concerned about the many very decent and competent Ghanaians who can help develop the country, who have had to stay away from the opportunity to serve, simply because of the fabricated lies, insults, and ‘media jandam’ that may be orchestrated against them.”
“We must criticise and call out people who do what is wrong, but we must build consensus against the practice of deliberately fabricating lies… just to tarnish images and cause disaffection. This practice itself must be a subject of candid national conversation,” he said.
On the recent claims of unmeritorious appointment and extravagant travels against him, Gyampo said that he has decided to forgive despite the legal action taken initially.
“I once again choose forgiveness over vengeance, and I don’t even need an apology. In our journey towards our divine mission on earth, we cannot afford to fall for the bait of distractions,” he said.
The political scientist reiterated his commitment to serving the country, saying, “Given what I have done in shaping the conduct of politics and governance in Ghana, I can only do what is right as I have the opportunity to serve. I have the honour to serve, and I won’t disappoint. We move.”
