The former Chief of Defense Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces, Brigadier General Nunoo Mensah says he can even work with the devil if given the opportunity.

The just outgone Human Security Coordinator in the previous Mahama administration who was speaking on the FNN Morning show was advising President Akufo-Addo to engage persons with a patriotic spirit which he likened to himself.

“I am more NPP than NDC and before that, I worked with CPP, I want Ghana to succeed….Annie I can even work with the devil, yes am serious I can work with the devil.”

“Nana Addo is some someone I know politically more than any other person in Ghana, I was his campaign manager in 1998 and we campaigned across the length and breadth of this country so he knows me very well and I know him too."

When I said he needs someone like me to succeed, I have been in this world for close to 80 years and there is no government I haven’t served since independence….so I know what it takes to succeed.

“Whether going to secondary school, whether going to the army, Canada, India, nobody has ever favoured me in anyway, I did all that on my own. I am a self-made man so I know what it takes to succeed”.

Gen. Nunoo Mensah told Annie, the host of the Morning Show, that his moral standards did not permit him to buy the vehicles as the policy has been when a government is exiting office and rather returned all the vehicles.

When asked about him coming across as blowing his own horn, Brigadier Gen. Nunoo Mensah said ‘you don’t light a lamp and hide and, therefore, I will blow my own horn, there is no one in Ghana who does not know me.

The retired military officer emphasized the new administration should make use of persons with his catalogued traits like Dr. KB Asante, the statesman who also worked with the Nkrumah government and that will be [the] only way to ensure success.

“We need humility, we need hard work, we need integrity, we need patriotism, we don’t have…someone is waiting to grab properties from the state”.

Brigadier Gen. Nunoo Mensah has built and fully furnished a police station for the people of Kwanyarko in the Agona East district of the Central region among other projects including schools. The police station has a complaint counter, offices for station master and investigators and exhibits room.

The Ghc350,000 project was built upon the request by the chief and people of Kwanyarko.

Brigadier alluded to the fact that it is only patriotic citizens who identifies problems and move in to provide solutions by any means.

“I believe my conviction is best for this nation and the President should engage people like me....and there are more”...Dr. K.B Asante is still around."

Brigadier’s comments met mixed reactions from the public with some tagging him as an opportunist who wants to take advantage of the situation.

Meanwhile, the retired military officer insists that government must move beyond political personalities to patriotic leaders who will be more dedicated to making Ghana a better place.
