A former minister of communications in the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, Dr Edward Omane Boamah has discounted rumors of possible plans to contest as flagbearer of the party in 2020.

He has also described comments made by Dr Owusu Mensah of the Political Science Department of the University Ghana in that respect as intellectually deficient and procured.

The political scientist on Kumasi-based Abusua Fm said the former communications minister is not ripped politically to contest the highest office of the country on the ticket of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Dr Owusu Mensah admonished the former Communications Minister to plan of contesting and becoming the country’s President in the future.

He remarked that the former Minister of Local Government Samuel Ofosu Ampofo will be the best candidate to lead the NDC in 2020.

‘If I look at the list and calibre of people in the NDC, people who have experience and public trust in NDC, Ofosu Ampofo should be one of the crucial candidate for them.

I don’t want to comment so much on Omane Boamah because I don’t think he is qualified. I am not talking about age, but intellectually he is not qualified to be a President of Ghana.

There are so many candidates in line who they can look at their advantages and disadvantages, but Omane Boamah has not gotten to that level,’ he pointed out.
